From McBride’sMediaMatters:

Hollywood to film Adam and Eve romantic comedy.. as modern lover’s quarrel

If the film were about Muslim religious beliefs… it would never be made. If it did get made, there would be riots and beheadings.

Last I checked, Islam shared claim to the old testament along with Christianity and Judaism.

A secondary purpose of this post is to see how the backlinks function of Blogger works. Similar to a trackback feature, backlinks supposedly find the inbound links automatically.

Coffer Curve?Email This Post

April 15th, 2007

My post yesterday mentioned the “Laffer Curve“, and I have been thinking economics since, like one of those annoying tunes that get stuck in your head, and you just can’t shake it. Over at Boots and Sabers, Owen discusses the consequences of increasing tobacco taxes at the state level, and it struck me as another instance where this type of approach might apply.

Bueller…Bueller…Email This Post

Today we have a similar debate over this. Anyone know what this is? Class? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone seen this before? The Laffer Curve. Anyone know what this says? It says that at this point on the revenue curve, you will get exactly the same amount of revenue as at this point. This is very controversial. Does anyone know what Vice President Bush called this in 1980? Anyone? Something-d-o-o economics. ‘Voodoo’ economics.

I would suggest the case, however, is far from closed. Mr. Thompson, I believe, takes several undeserved liberties.

Democratic Schadenfreude?Email This Post

February 26th, 2007

Over at FromWhereISit.org, it is suggested that

(t)he Democrats are doing everything they can to make sure the United States abandons the Iraqis to sectarian slaugther and ethnic cleansing.

That’s more than a bit of a stretch. It’s all too easy to see motives where none really exist. Sure, a majority of Democrats are (finally) voicing disdain over our Iraqi entanglement, but to suggest it’s the goal, NAY, the EEEEvil plot of the Dems to see that country fall further into chaos is going too far.

A rush to the middleEmail This Post

Owen at Boots and Sabers points thumbuppingly to Gerald McGlothlin’s Wisconsin State Journal piece Moving left will kill what’s left of GOP.

Unless the GOP “rogue elephants” return to the herd, they may drag the rest of their party to extinction.

If the Republican Party continues its de facto merger with the Democrats, most of the next generation of Americans may not even remember who the Republican Party was or what they stood for. Do we now?

I’d suggest it may be a bit premature for those leaning right to abandon all hope.
